GIANFRANCO ZOLA and his highly-paid West Ham flops will be asked to take a 25 per cent pay cut.
Co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan must slash the £60million wage bill to stop the club going under - even if they avoid relegation.

And Sullivan said: "Everyone will be asked to take a cut this summer."

The owners took on huge £110m debts - and have uncovered an alarming 'fat cat' culture at Upton Park.

Midfielder Scott Parker pockets £65,000 a week - the same fee as crocked star Kieron Dyer.

Defender Matthew Upson picks up £60,000 a week and fringe defender Manuel Da Costa even gets £20,000. The wages are crippling the club.

Around 15 club staff have volunteered to take a wage cut and other cost-cutting plans are on the way.

A 'player liaison officer' - who earns £50,000 a year to drive stars around - will be hit. The officer is a close family friend of a former West Ham employee.

A fitness coach - paid a whopping £200,000 a year - and one of the club's two doctors also face the axe.

Controversial technical director Gianluca Nani is also high on the hit list.

Sullivan said: "We already had to slash 10 or 15 jobs. The club is in a mess, everyone has to pull together."

In principal i agree with this. Footballers are paid far to much.

If this has been leaked to the press by Brady or the other two its pretty cheap.
As we are battling to turn the season around, this is not good PR. Of course it could be bollocks, However the running of the club is being serialised in the press. Quoting the owners as the major source. Seems to be several articles a week these days.

Thats why they offered RVN 100k a week. They want managed wages for a club our size, when the club grows and we get more income we will be able to pay more wages.

So G&S want Champions League football within 7 years, but they don't want to pay anyone more than 45K a week?

Face - Isn't that generally how the club has always been run and had to be run?

I just didn't like the dressing up of it from the last regime to be honest.

Still, onwards and upwards (hopefully)

Didn't they invest in the squad recently?

Re: Another Sun Exclusive
most people were stating what lies we were being told though, as we all knew the club had to be sold, we were signing kids. sbobet had to sub us and nani/duxbury had to allegedly front cash for franco.

before g&s joined a lot thought they would invest around £10 - £20m in the jan window, and anyone suggested they wouldn't invest highly - as their birmingham reign would suggest - were slagged off.

if anything, g&s will run a more strict version of the project, yet it seems ok now which seems a little strange to me. still, you maybe right and people are merely catching up to the reality.

Face - We were told we were self sufficient last Summer though. Maybe now most are realising the problem is bigger than we thought. If we have to sell to survive, then so be it.

It seems to me that people are looking at it like that, as opposed to arguing to suit a personal agenda maybe?

Re: Another Sun Exclusive
there is a strange lack of 'if you don't invest, you go backwards' comments from some on here.

it wasn't good enough in the summer, but this coming summer down grading further is ok?

Fucking embarrasing really.

What Percentage cuts will they have to make if the dreaded happens and we go down? i imagine it will have to alot more than 25% to stop WH going deeper into dept.

"Are you pretending to be in the know?"

No mate just simple deduction. I've always made it quite clear I know no-one at WH.

We've heard it all before from G&S so why are they repeating it now?

Answer: They want to let fans know it will be "Armageddon" if we get relegated so they have no choice in what is possibly going to happen if we lose tomorrow.....

You any other ideas?

First of all most of this is old news just re-hashed.Secondly i`m glad the fans are not being kept in the dark like the old regimes.

In a decade football will be in a bad way (maybe even sooner) best we act first and watch the rest suffer when the money isn`t coming in.

Players should be paid a set wage that is more sensible and they can odd to that with their own `image rights` so everyone at say a premiership club who are in the main squad are on £20,000 a week, the rest is down to themselves and their agents to earn off their own backs.

Don't forget they've succesfully run a football club before.
No idea what their PR sas like but in terms of the position Brum were in when G&S bought them to when they sold them, they did a good job.

Re: Another Sun Exclusive
Agree with all that.
Yet more poor press relations by Sullivan. Probably like the rest of us he expected say 5 to 7 ponts from the last 3 games and some hope that we were moving away from relegation and of course he was very pissed off, especially after investing £25M. Surely though with the importance of the Brum game this could have waited a few days? Sullivan is reacting as emotionally as a fan, not as a Chairman.
That previous idiot statement about claiming the Gudjohnnsen (sp?) £5K hotel bill should have made this no surprise I suppose.

When you take that into consideration they aint doing such a bad job but unsurprisingly have the ability to put both feet in their mouth at one time ? Suppose we should, with their track record, be grateful that it's only their feet they are putting in their mouths at present ?

Re: Another Sun Exclusive
For me this is another head-in-hands moment.

I had hoped that our new owners, experienced in business and in running a football club would demonstrate more common sense and clearer thinking that previous adminisrations.

In fairness, they have in some ways. Aquiring 3 strikers in in 10 days demonstrated understanding and (finally) led to a transfer window that has actually helped rather than hindered us.

It's also obvious that they've identified the appauling organisation and wastage under the previous regime, once again making a mockery of the idea that Duxbury did a good job.

However, while players, managers, employees and owners come and go, it seems West Ham's talent for shooting ourself in the foot remains.

I agree entirely that today's revelations are ill considered, ill timed and actively hinder our chances of escaping relegation.

It astounds me that these people, who have extensive media credentials, don't understand how damaging slack mouthed comments like that are.

The last lot (and the lot before that) were often guilty for what they didn't say. Now we have the complete opposite. What has stayed the same is our inability to present a united front and an image that works to our advanatge on and off the pitch.

Contrary to popular opinion on here, doing your business in public is not necessarily a bad thing. HOWEVER, it's WHAT you say and WHEN you say it that's important. You have to be capable of manipulating the media and the flow of information to your advanatge, not the opposite.

I talk about this side of things a lot on here. It really does matter. The football media set the atmosphere and the conditions in which we attempt to do our most important work - trying to win football matches. You will not find a single aspect of the success/failure of West Ham United (morale, confidence, pressure, results, transfers, finances, supporters etc etc) that is not in some way connected to the club's public image.

You can either make it less or more difficult for yourselves. West Ham do the latter again, again and again. It drives me fucking insane.

I note they sacked PR man Phil Hall (we actually had a PR man!?!? Fuck me! What a job he did! When was the last time West Ham enjoyed a PR victory? Further ago than we enjoyed away victory, that's for sure). Fucking hell. They could consult me for free, and get better advice!

In summary then: ARRRGHHHHH!!!
